Legal notice and scope of service

Mariana Jara graduated in Psychology from the Universidad de Morón (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and is registered with the Colegio de Psicólogos de Chubut, Argentina. That registration allows her to practice psychology in Argentina.

She has more than ten years of clinical practice, sees patients in person in Trelew, Chubut, and online in Argentina, Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries.

Lic. Mariana Jara is not licensed in any US state and does not practice clinical psychology under US law.

In the United States, psychotherapy is regulated state by state: only a professional licensed in the state where you are physically located can provide clinical treatment there. That is not the case for this service.

Online psychological support sessions in Spanish: a space to talk and work through what you are going through, with a trained professional. Sessions are held in Spanish only.

They do not replace psychological or psychiatric treatment by a professional licensed in your state. If you need formal clinical care, a diagnosis with legal validity, coordination with your doctor, or to continue an ongoing treatment, the right choice is a professional licensed where you live.

Sessions are by appointment only; there is no immediate or after-hours care. If you are in crisis, thinking about hurting yourself, or need help right now, contact a crisis line.

This service does not include prescriptions. Psychiatric medication can only be prescribed by a doctor, and in the US that doctor must be licensed in your state.

No certificates, reports or documents with clinical or legal validity are issued for US institutions, employers, schools or courts.

Health insurance is not accepted, and no superbills or receipts for reimbursement are issued. A document from a professional without a US license would not be valid for your insurer, and offering one would be misleading.

Payment is direct, with no deductible and no copay.

Everything said in session is protected by professional secrecy under the Argentine code of ethics for psychologists. Information is not shared with third parties.

This is not a HIPAA-covered service. HIPAA is the US law on the privacy of health information and applies to providers in the US health system. Sessions run on Google Meet or Zoom, general-purpose platforms.

If during the process there is a risk to your life or someone else's, active suicidal thoughts, violence, or a condition that needs urgent or in-person care, this is the procedure:

• What is being observed is talked about with you openly.
• You are pointed to crisis lines and the resources available where you live.
• Starting treatment with a professional licensed in your state is explicitly recommended, and the sessions can continue while that process starts, if it makes sense.
• If remote support is not right for your situation, you are told so clearly and it does not continue.
